10,000 Days
Today, I am 10,000 Days old.
Today is my 10,000th Day on earth. This is a much nicer and more aesthetic number than 27 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Arguably, this is far more aesthetic and worth celebrating than my 27th birthday, but less people care. It is somewhat disheartening to know that this is the last time I will ever live a number of days that is a power of ten, but such is life.
Today, I can confidently say that I've done certain actions over 10,000 times. Not particularly high-caliber ones, but I now KNOW that I've pooped at least 10,000 times, that I've slept at least 10,000 times, and that I've eaten at least 10,000 times. Though the true count is higher for all of the above.
I can confidently say that compared to my 1,000th day, or even my 5,000th day, I feel more like I've gained some mastery over the act of living. I would say that my top 5 highlights of the last 10 kilo days have been (mostly chronologically):
- breathing
- seeing
- eating
- walking
- reading
My 10,000th day comes at a time when I've been thinking about this idea of how we aren't aware of the subconscious skills we possess lately as I've been trying to learn how to write fluently with my left hand (prompted by me fracturing my right wrist), and the act of relearning something that has become so instinctual to me has been an interesting journey. Every time I struggle to write with my left hand I am reminded that countless hours have gone into creating the distinctive font that my right hand emits.
I think the next aesthetic day count I'm looking forward to living through will be my 11,111th day.
